Illumination rounds are used to reveal the location of enemy forces hidden by darkness. They allow the commander to confirm or deny the presence of the enemy without revealing the location of friendly direct-fire weapons. Mortar Illumination rounds create a visible white light or an Infrared (IR) light that can only be detected with the use of Night Vision Devices (NVD).
Smoke rounds provide the commander with the ability to conceal his unit from enemy observation. Both the 60mm and 120mm mortar rounds use White Phosphorus. The 81mm mortar rounds use Red Phosphorus as the smoke generating agent.
Training rounds are designed to provide the user with realistic handling and operation at a fraction of the cost of an actual round.
