Support Equipment

Support equipment includes individual and crew served weapon systems and the family of military tactical vehicles. These items are associated with the set, not issued with it. These include the 12 gauge Shotgun, M202 Grenade Launcher and vehicle mounted smoke dischargers

Acoustic Hailing Device (AHD)

The Acoustic Hailing Device (AHD) emits intelligible voice and warning tones with clarity and authority in excess of 300 meters over land and 500 meters over water. It provides warning and messaging capability via a highly directional acoustic wave transmitter. AHD increases force protection and enhances mission effectiveness by allowing units to warn, inform and direct the actions of combatants and non-combatants on the battlefield. AHD is an enabler for Soldier Lethality by allowing units to quickly determine intent and control actions of potentially hostile personnel, as an escalation of force measure, making operational forces more efficient and lethal. AHD can also be an enabler for the Next Gen Combat Vehicle modernization priority as a means of protecting the host vehicle from personnel with the intent to damage the vehicle.

Individual Serviceman’s Non-Lethal System (ISNLS)

Often called a “paintball gun on steroids,” the ISNLS is a compressed air-operated, semi-automatic launcher designed to fire non-lethal projectiles at ranges of 10m to 100m. The pneumatic launcher fires a polystyrene .68 caliber projectile that can either mark or deliver a blunt impact to a target, giving Soldiers the ability to engage targets with non-lethal force at increased distances and accuracy. The magazine holds 15 rounds and the pressurized air tank has a 110-shot reservoir capacity.

X26E Taser Stun Device

The X26E Taser Stun Device, also known as Launched Electrode Stun Device (LESD) is an electro-muscular incapacitation device, used to propel wired-probes or to conduct energy directly to affect sensory and motor functions, allowing control over a targeted individual. It can deliver an electrical shock capable of arching up through two inches of clothing and can incapacitate a target without permanent injury or known side effects. The effective range is up to 35 feet.

AN/PSS-14C

The AN/PSS-14C is the Army's latest generation handheld detector that employs a state-of-the-art metal detector and ground penetrating radar to achieve a high probability of detection of explosive hazards and the associated components.  The AN/PSS-14C is an enabler for Soldier Lethality as it guarantees increased soldier maneuver by enhancing the probability and speed of detection of buried landmines and IEDs.  This capability allows for increased speed of dismounted operations making the unit more efficient and lethal.

Solid State - Active Denial Technology (SS-ADT)

The Solid State - Active Denial Technology (SS-ADT) is a directed energy transmitter that immediately incapacitates targeted personnel or materiel while minimizing fatalities, permanent injury to personnel, and undesired damage to property in the target area.  The system provides a nonlethal “Repel” or “Shove” effect against potentially hostile personnel for area security/force protection, including stationary and vehicle borne (including watercraft) applications.  SS-ADT gives the Warfighter flexible options in time and range.  The SS-ADT does not replace lethal force options, but rather expands force options available so Warfighters can tailor their response to mission needs.

Individual Non-Lethal System

The Individual Non-Lethal Systems (INS) will provide an Intermediate Force counter-personnel capability that provides the warfighter the ability to accurately engage targeted individuals out to 100 meters, without the close-proximity employment limitations of currently-fielded individual personnel incapacitation devices. This system will fill the nonlethal capability gap in combat, combat service support, and support units improving response time to potential threats, increasing force protection, and reducing the potential for user error. By expanding the effective range envelope, the INS solution will replace multiple rounds thus reducing the logistics burden associated with the management and supply of numerous existing products.
